Burgers: A Conversation With Megan #7

So we’re in the kitchen making lunch and chatting away about nothing in particular. Megan watched me get the cheese ready to go on top of the burgers I was cooking and was excited that I was going to make Swiss burgers with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and peppers. As it turned out, the veggies were leftovers and I wasn’t too sure about the slightly off smell, so I 86’ed them.

Me: Hmmm, I’m not too sure about these.

Megan: Dawre good.

Me: No, Megan, I’m not too sure about them and I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Megan: We can eat dem. Dawre fine.

Me: Nope, we’ll just have the cheese on them.

I start plating up the food, and because I felt bad about no veggies on them, I started putting a slice of cheese under the burgers as well as on top. But I didn’t have enough Swiss, so I got the sliced Havarti.

Megan: What’s dat one?

Me: Havarti. It’s really yummy.

Megan: I LOVE ‘varti!

Me: Havarti.

Megan: ‘Varti! It’s stwingy on da buwrgewr!

Me: And we’ll have mayo and salt and pepper on them.

Megan, rubbing her hands together as I spread mayo on the buns: Mmmmm! I LOVE salt an’ peppewr on it!

Me: Me too!

Megan: Swiss cheese….and Swiss cheese on da bottom!

Me: Well, Swiss cheese on top.

Megan: I mean Gouda on da bottom!

Me: Well, Havarti.

Megan: I mean ‘varti!

Me, sprinkling on the salt: Yep, gonna be yummy!

Megan, laughing as I hold up the almost empty salt box and shake it on: Oooooo, it’s like mawaccas!!

Me: Hahaha!

Megan, gesturing with her hands: Olé! <giggles>

Oh, that girl!
